Tom Hockenhull

Hello. I'm Tom and I'm a mathematician.

Broadly speaking, most of my research comes under the umbrella of low-dimensional topology, though I mostly specialise in (bordered) Heegaard Floer homology - and so a lot of my research lies close to symplectic geometry and algebra.

Previously I was based at the Max Planck Institute for Mathematics in Bonn, before that at The University of Glasgow, before that at Imperial College London, and, in ancient history, at the University of Warwick.

My email address is thomas dot my surname at gmail dot com.

Papers

Pre-prints:
Holomorphic polygons and the bordered Heegaard Floer homology of link complements
Bordered invariants of pairs of sutured manifolds with torus boundary
On the rank of knot homology theories and concordance
(joint with Nathan Dunfield, Sherry Gong, Marco Marengon and Michael Willis)

In preparation:

Comic

I write and draw a comic about maths, for Chalkdust magazine. You can find it here:
The inverse homotopy
It's not dead yet: hopefully an update is forthcoming!

Posters

I won a poster competition at Imperial College, with Marco Marengon. Here is the poster:
Invariants and Categorification
I made another pair which didn't win but I'm still pleased with: Noah and Norah Self-portrait of the artist
